Box Score 2 Siloam Springs, Ark.—A two-game road stretch this weekend sent Panhandle State volleyball home with a pair of conference losses to shift their season record to 5-12 with a 3-6 record within the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Aggies took Friday's matchup in Muskogee against Bacone College to five sets, earning wins in sets one (25-18) and four (25-15), but falling short in remaining sets by scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 15-10. Panhandle held a higher hitting percentage throughout the match, out-hitting the Warriors .224 to .175 on attack percentage.
Quiara Pointdexter and
Summer Middleton led the way in scoring, bringing in a combined 42 points for the Aggies. Pointdexter led the game in kills with 18 and scored an additional four points on service aces. Middleton came away with a double-double that included 17 kills and 15 digs; the junior outside hitter also served up three aces over the five-game match. McKenna Clement received 28 digs for a game-high. Defensively,
Kendra Butler brought down two solo blocks.
On Saturday the Aggies made their way from eastern Oklahoma to Arkansas for an SAC match against John Brown University. The Golden Eagles defeated the Aggies in three sets 25-17, 25-9 and 25-12 to take their seventh SAC win and advance to a second-place tie in the conference standings. Middleton and Pointdexter once again led the team in scoring with four and five points respectively. Middleton landed four kills to lead the team and Pointdexter totaled three kills and two aces in the match.
Courtney Adams and
Melody Ethley also put points up with three kills each. Cruz totaled 13 assists in the game, and Clement led the team with 14 digs; Middleton offered ten digs.
The Aggies are home this week with two SAC games taking place in the Oscar Williams Field House Oct 13-14. Friday at 7 p.m. Panhandle State volleyball hosts a top-ranked Oklahoma City University team; the defending conference champions currently hold a 12-5 overall record and own eight wins in the Sooner Athletic Conference. On Saturday, the Aggies bring a Pink Out against Central Christian College at Noon. Both games will offer live stats and live video streaming with links offered online at opsuaggies.com.
