Box Score 3 Chickasha, Okla.—Panhandle Baseball traveled to Chickasha, Oklahoma to the University of Science and Arts Oklahoma for a three-game contest over Friday and Saturday. The Aggies fought hard and kept good pace with the No. 8 Drovers, but were ultimately overtaken in the three games of well-played ball. (10-8; 7-2; 6-4).
RBII's from
Gerson Padilla,
Kasey Leatherwood,
Luis Rodriguez and
Jaylon Burnett accounted for the eight runs on the board in game one for OPSU. The Aggies bested the Drovers in hits with fifteen to USAO's thirteen, and persisted through the three-hour bat battle scoring four runs in the ninth, but Panhandle was unable to close in on the Drover lead and fell 10-8. Both teams threw three pitchers each throughout a nine-inning game one, with
Adrian Lopez walking away with the loss for the Aggies.
The second round of play opened game two on Saturday with
Corey Ley on the mound, who would go to pitch all seven innings.
Pierce Edwards and
Aaron Moreno scored runs early but the Aggies would fall silent against the Drovers' pitching, falling 7-2. A close game three had the Aggies battling back in stride. RBIs from Padilla,
Nate Kelly and
Bradley Ruiz brought the Aggies up and the duo of
Cesar Gomez and
Garrison Armstrong would keep the Drovers scoreless through the last four innings of play, but the lead taken by the Drovers in the second would be unmatched and the Aggies would walk away with the loss, 6-4.
The Aggies are currently 13-23 on the season and 4-10 in conference following the series sweep by USAO. Looking for home field redemption, the Aggies will play a three-game contest against the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions this week over March 30-31. Game one of Friday's double header will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Saturday's first pitch at 12:00 p.m.
