Aggies Miss the Mark Against Texas Wesleyan

Fort Worth, Texas— The Aggies traveled to Fort Worth over the weekend to take on the Texas Wesleyan Rams in a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference contest Saturday and Sunday. The Aggies battled through the trio of games but were bested by the Rams over the series, (12-2, 4-3, 6-0).

The Rams overtook the Aggies in a frigid and windy game one, surpassing them with twelve runs on ten hints through the nine-inning contest. OPSU saw RBI's from Louis Rodriguez and Juan Sanchez, but it was not enough to aid closing the gap on the Rams, 12-2. Adrian Lopez would come away with the loss on the day, giving up seven hits in his opening three innings pitched.

In a close game two, the Aggies led through five innings and scored three runs off RBI's from Sanchez and Leatherwood and a sac-fly from Edwards, but the Rams plated one run in both the third and fourth innings and tacked on two runs in the sixth to bring the final score 4-3.

The Aggies were shut out in the final game of the series, 6-0. The Rams stacked the hits, plating three runs in the first inning and one a piece in the second, fourth and fifth innings that would go unanswered. Garrison Armstrong would take the loss for the Aggies, giving up eleven of the Rams' twelve hits in his five innings pitched.

The Aggies stand 18-25 on the season and 9-12 in conference after the sweep from the Rams. Looking to gain home field momentum, the Aggies will play a mid-week double header April 10 against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Game one against the Rangers will begin at 1 p.m.
