Goodwell, Okla—Panhandle Baseball earned a landslide victory in their home opener over Friends University on Feb. 5, taking the win 14-1 in seven innings.
Both teams went scoreless through the first and Panhandle would put its first two runs on the board in the bottom of the second off a sac-fly from
Jaylon Burnett and an RBI single from
Jarrod Vaught. The Aggies kept the momentum going in the bottom of the fourth, leading off with Burnett reaching on a walk and he would score on a roped RBI-double to center from
Gerson Padilla. Vaught stepped up with a single, advancing Padilla to third. Vaught would steal second and
Payton Rhodes was sent to first on a hit-by-pitch to load the bases.
Luis Rodriguez doubled to deep center, scoring two runs, and back-to-back sac-flys from
Jared Mayeda and
Jack Aydelotte plated two more, putting the Aggies up 7-0 at the end of the inning.
Anthony Munoz and the defense kept the Falcons to just one hit through three innings pitched and
Garrison Armstrong would take the bump for the Aggies in relief.
