GOODWELL, Okla.—The Aggies (12-7) are coming off a six-game streak, including a series sweep over Bacone (Okla.) last weekend (Mar. 1/2.) The team took the day one blowout winning 12-6 in game one and taking game two 15-2. Plating the second highest number of runs in school history, succeeding the previous record attained in 2018 with 22 runs over Central Christian (Kan.), the Aggies then closed out the series sweep with a 21-5 victory in game three.
In the outing against Bacone,
Gerson Padilla lead the Aggies going 12-16 on the series -including three doubles and two home runs- and brought in eight RBIs. Outfielder Jake Dean also had a good showing at the plate, going 7-9 with two RBIs as well as third baseman
Chris Galvan who took 4-7 and plated four runs for the Aggies.
The Aggie pitchers shoved on the bump for the blue and red over the three-game series. To start game one,
Yesiel Valdez pitched a gem on the mound with a no-hitter into five innings, striking out 12 Warriors and allowing just one hit and one run in the bottom of the fifth. Joey Goetze took the mound in game two, pitching five innings to allow four hits and one run and sending 10 back to the Bacone dugout himself.
Tyler Bryant entered game three in relief and allowed just one hit and zero runs in his four innings pitched and struck out eight Warriors in the process.
The team will face a tough Sooner Athletic Conference challenger in Texas Wesleyan this weekend, as the Aggies take on the Rams in a three-game series over Friday (Mar. 8/ 12PM, 2PM) and Saturday (Mar. 9/ 12PM). The Rams recently entered the Top-25 list at No. 21 and pose a daunting confrontation, but the last time these two teams met marked the post-season berth for the Aggies as they took down a then-ranked No. 20 Texas Wesleyan team in game one of the conference tournament before falling to the Rams on day two.
