As we count down to the beginning of the 2019-20 season, over the next few days we will take a look back at a top-10 of some of the most memorable moments from 2018-19! While paring these down to just 10 was a chore, you will find some great team and individual performances included (several of which were also based of fan submissions earlier this summer).
#2- SOFTBALL QUALIFIES FOR SAC TOURNEY & REACHES 30 VICTORIES
For the second-consecutive season, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball team earned a Sooner Athletic Conference post-season playoff berth. With a final season record of 30-21, OPSU produced the first-ever winning record in its softball program history. Along the way, four players –
Kaylor Battiest,
Abby Gregory,
Jewell Lee and
Brittany Thomas – earned All-SAC honors, as well.Â
Â
Panhandle's winning percentage of .588 and was just the second Aggies' team to ever hit 30 victories. The 2003 team had a school-record 34 wins (34-35). Prior to its SAC play in 2018, OPSU had not seen a conference playoff bid in more than a decade.
The Aggies picked up win #30 in the season finale versus Langston University, 10-1. It was also the swan song for senior pitcherÂ
Lindsay Jacobs as an Aggie. Jacobs (14-7) threw the complete game, allowing five hits and posting four shutout frames before the Lady Lions scored their run. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter in putting the exclamation point on her two years in the Panhandle colors.
