LANGSTON, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball came out on the short end of its Sooner Athletic Conference contest at arch-rival Langston University, 81-69, at the C.F. Gayles Field House. The Aggies fell to 1-5 overall and 1-5 in the SAC, while the Lady Lions improved to 4-2 and 2-2 in conference.
Senior guard
Naomi Rodriguez paced Panhandle's scoring with 17 points, converting 7-of-9 free throws in the process, in registering her fifth double-figure scoring game in six outings. She also had a pair of assists to her credit.
Fellow senior
Cassia McCaskill also tallied in double figures for the fifth time this season, booking 16 points and grabbing six boards.
Tateum Jones had a nice all-around effort with 14 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals to her credit
Sophomore
Morgan Williamson rounded out the double-digit point scorers for OPSU with 11. Williamson was 4-of-7 from the floor and had four rebounds, as well.
Myra McCaskill topped the Aggies on the glass with 10 caroms on the night. She also chipped in seven points and two assists.
Alie Parkhurst and
Jo Quintero each came off the bench and had one field goal to round out OPSU's scoring.
That was where host Langston showed its largest advantage. The Lady Lions' bench out-scored Panhandle State by a 25-4 margin.
The contest was a tight 20-19 game after one quarter, but LU extended its advantage to 44-30 by halftime.
The Aggies will look to return to the win column on Saturday at Central Christian College. Tipoff in McPherson, Kansas, is slated for 2 p.m.
