Aggie Volleyball Beats Southwestern Christian University Eagles in 4 Sets

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State University Volleyball traveled over to Southwestern Christian University Eagles to compete tonight. The Aggies won in a four-set contest; scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17.
 
The Aggies took control of the match from the beginning, grabbing the momentum with aggressive serves, well placed kills, and solid blocking at the net. Aggies were able to convert 5 of the first 7 points, leading to a strong finish of the first set.
 
The Eagles came back in set two with a vengeance, serving tough, attacking every ball, and dominating the net. The Aggies were on their heels, trying to find a way to stop it. Senior Setter Lesly Galarza went back to the services line and forced the Eagles to call a time out. Galarza provided the Aggies with aggressive serves that help bring the Aggies back into the game. However, the Eagles were able to capitalize on set two.
 
The setback did not stop the Aggies, in fact it spurred the Aggies to come out firing on all cylinders. The Aggies were able to keep the momentum through set 3 and 4, to win the match. Ebony Dykes and Keera Parks provided not only strong blocking at the net, but the offense was also unstoppable. Dykes and Parks each have phenomenal night, Dykes with 9 kills, hitting .389 and Parks had 5 kills, hitting .400 and both having 5 solo blocks respectively each. Galarza provided the Aggies with 30 set assists, 3 aces and 9 digs.
 
Defensively, the Aggies were led by libero sophomore Mckenna Coppock who had 21 digs, 3 aces and, 4 assists on the night. Followed by Ashley Sanchez who had 16 digs, Gracie Soza with 11 digs and Nora Castillo who had 6. Lastly, the Aggies had 12 services aces on the match.
 
The Aggies face Oklahoma City University (OCU) on Saturday at 1 pm, who is currently tied for second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OCU is currently 7-2 in conference and the Aggies are 5-4.
