Panhandle State Aggie Volleyball Beat John Brown University

GOODWELL, Okla. - Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies hosted John Brown University Golden Eagles (Ark.) tonight in the Anchor D. Arena.

The Aggies continued conference play this with a match against the Golden Eagles. The Aggies stepped onto the court with a record of 17-9 overall and 9-6 in conference play. The Aggies were also coming off a huge win vs conference rival Wayland Baptist University on Tuesday night.

The Aggies had yet another huge conference win tonight, topping the Golden Eagles in four sets 25-22, 25-23, 12-25, and 25-18. There were many key contributors for the Aggies. Junior, Essence West lead the Aggies with 20 kills on the night, clipping a consistent .326. Junior Zoe Fry also contributed 10 kills of her own for the Aggies. Senior setters Celenia Toribio and Lesly Galarza who ran the offense for the Aggies, had impressive night as well. Celenia Toribio with 19 assists. Lesly Galarza had a double-double, contributing 13 set assists and 14 digs. The Aggies produced four players with at least five blocks, led by Idalisia Agbaosi's seven blocks shutdowns. Eduarda Souza produced six and Zoe Fry and Keera Parks each posted five of their own. Freshman defensive specialist Avery Turner entered the match and led the Aggies with 16 digs and 4 service aces. Senior Ashley Sanchez and sophomore Gracie Soza each had 13 digs and Soza with 2 aces as well.

Overall, the Aggies found a rhythm and were able to execute the game plan set by Head Coach Julie Allen. Coach Allen stated, "This team does a great job resetting and focusing on every point as it comes. Essence came out with another 20 plus kill match and Lesly had a double-double. Everyone contributed, whether they were a starter or came off the bench when we needed them. Our bench stayed high energy and kept their teammates positive. I love it when they enjoy the moment. Not everyone gets the chance to play college ball. This is something to experience and they should be proud of how they showed up tonight."

The Aggies move to 18-9 overall and 10-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Aggies will take to the road next week to face conference opponents Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) on October 29th at 7 pm and Texas Wesleyan University on October 30th at 1 pm.
