PLAINVIEW, Tx. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Football team traveled to play Wayland Baptist University (WBU) Pioneers this afternoon. This was a much-anticipated matchup in conference play. A win by either team would move them up in conference ranking.
The Aggies would be the first team on the scoreboard this afternoon, with
Javier Sinecio's field goal. This momentum would carry the Aggies through the remainder of the game. The Aggies were able to put some points on the board and hold WBU's offense to beat the Pioneers 20-13.
Freshman quarterback
Brandon Stephens completed for 17 receptions for 272 yards and, 2 completed touchdowns.
Jalen Partida had 6 receptions, Daiashawn Brimage,
Charjay Hunt and,
Clayton Stallones each had 2 receptions on the day. The Aggies had Freshman
Jordan Jackson and Senior
Antonio Vaughn each hit the endzone for the Aggies.
Defensively the Aggies were unstoppable, with JaQuavion Daniels leading the Aggies with 9 tackles. Following with 8 tackles each are
D'Quan Charles, Kameron Dickers, and
Matt Hernandez.
Head Coach
Bob Majeski stated "it was a great win for our program. The assistant coaches put together a great game plan in all phases of the game. And, our players executed the plan very well. I am proud of everyone involved in our program."
The Aggies now move to 3-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Next up for the Aggie Football team is Southwestern Assemblies of God (Tx) in the Anchor D. Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 16th at 2 pm.
