Box Score LANGSTON, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies took on the Langston University Lions this afternoon. The Aggies came out on fire and never looked back, sweeping the Lions 25-21, 25-16, 25-11.
The Aggies beat the Lions in every category; kills, hitting percentage, digging, blocking and service aces. The second day in a row for the Aggies with 10 service aces to the opponents 1.
Gracie Soza with 3 aces,
Nora Castillo with 3 aces and
Mckenna Coppock with 2 aces.
On the offense, the Aggies were led by
Celenia De Leon Toribio with 5 kills, hitting .833. Following her was
Essence West with 10 kills, hitting .381,
Zoe Fry hitting .255,
Alanys Ruiz hitting .250,
Keera Parks hitting .200. Senior setters Toribio and
Lesly Galarza had 13 and 11 set assists on the three-set match.
The defense was just as strong as the offense for the Aggies this afternoon. The Aggies had 7 blocks to the Lions 3 and 33 digs to 31 digs. At the net, Toribio had 3 solo blocks,
Idalisia Agbaosi with 2 solo blocks and
Ebony Dykes and West each had 1 solo block. On the back half of the court Aggies were led by Soza with 8 digs,
Avery Turner with 7 digs, Coppock with 6 digs.

Julie Allen stated "Langston University has a talented volleyball team, and I am proud of the Aggies, they came in determined, focused and executed the game plan perfectly. It is difficult to beat a team in three straight sets and the Aggies were able to get that done today. I saw great play all over from our setter's set decisions, our hitters attack choices to our defense who had grit."
The Aggies are currently overall record 14-8 and 7-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference. Next up for the Aggies is a home match versus University of Southwest on Tuesday, Oct. 12
th at 6pm. The Aggies will resume conference play when they travel to MACU and USAO on Oct. 15
th & 16
th.
