Aggie Women's Basketball Win over Ozark Christian College

An impressive 26 assists on the night

GOODWELL, OKLAHOMA: Oklahoma Panhandle State University Women's Basketball kicked off the Aggie Classic this evening in the Anchor D. Arena in front of a packed Aggie crowd.

The Aggies tipped off against Ozark Christian College, a competitive member of the National Christian College Athletic Association. Panhandle State opened up the game with a quick lead, executing the game plan and creating looks at the rim. In the first half, the Aggies were nearly 41% from the field to give them a 42-28 lead going into the locker room at the half.

The Ambassadors changed up their strategy stepping on the court in the second half, but it would not be enough to slow down the Aggie game. 75% from the free-throw line and 42% from the field was more than enough to keep the Aggie lead out of reach for the Ambassadors. As a result, the Aggies cruised to a comfortable 78-60 win over the Ambassadors.

Overall, the Aggies executed key strategies this evening. The Panhandle had an impressive 26 assists on the night and outrebounded the Ambassadors 45-38. Jamiya Eaddy had another strong performance, contributing 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and tossing up 15 points. Cassia McCaskill led the Aggies with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Johanna Quinterro also had 17 points tonight. We also saw an aggressive Aggie defense this evening. The Aggies capitalized on turnovers and converted them into 21 points on the board.

Head Coach Victor Esparza stated, "Our game plan was simple; run the offense, create looks to the rim, and be Aggressive on defense. They played as a team tonight. When you have that many assists and nearly every player scoring, that means they are working together to get an open shot. You really can't ask for more than that. The home crowd certainly contributed to our win tonight. It's one of the many reasons why we love playing here in the Anchor D."

The Aggies continue the Aggie Classic tomorrow, facing the Bacone College Warriors. Tip-off is 2 pm in the Anchor D. Arena.
