Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Volleyball hosted Oklahoma City University (OCU) Stars tonight at Anchor D. Arena. The Stars currently are ranked second in Sooner Athletic Conference and the Aggies sixth. The Aggies came out on fire, focused, and determined to make it an Aggie night. Aggies beat the Stars in four sets, 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, and 25-19.
Head Coach
Julie Allen stated, "I am proud of the Aggies Volleyball Team. They did a great job playing as a family with one goal in mind; enjoy the night. We created a game plan together, and the team did an outstanding job executing it."
The offense was led by senior setters
Celenia De Leon Toribio and
Lesly Galarza. Toribio had 14 set assists and 6 digs. Galarza had 29 set assists, 1 service ace, and 5 digs. The Aggies had 3 in double-digit kills and, as a team, outhit the Stars tonight with a team hitting percentage of .239 to the Stars .144 in the four sets. Junior
Alanys Ruiz had 10 kills, hitting .261, 1 solo block, and 2 block assists. Junior
Zoe Fry had 16 kills, hitting .244 and 3 block assists. Junior
Essence West with 14 kills, hitting .400, 8 digs, and 2 block assists.
Junior middle blockers
Keera Parks and
Idalisia Agbaosi were dominant at the net. Parks had 3 solo blocks and 3 block assists on top of her 4 kills. Agbaosi had 4 block assists at the net. The Aggie defense was on point this evening. Sophomore libero
Gracie Soza had 20 digs and 2 service aces. Senior
Ashley Sanchez had 9 digs and 1 service ace.
The Aggies end regular conference play tomorrow as they host Southwestern Christian University tomorrow. With Senior Day, Aggie Volleyball will also honor their four seniors (
Celenia De Leon Toribio,
Lesly Galarza,
Eduarda Souza, and
Ashley Sanchez). The Aggies match is set for 1 pm in Anchor D. Arena on November 6th, 2021.
