Aggie Women's Basketball Win over Central Christian College

MCPHERSON, Ks -  The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Women's Basketball team hit the road this week to take on fellow Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) competitor Central Christian College of Kansas. In an all but dominant Aggie performance, the Aggies secured an excellent road win vs. the Tigers. Thus, the Aggies beat the Tigers 82-41 and secured Aggie's first conference win.

From tip-off to the final buzzer, the Aggies executed the game plan, holding on to the lead every minute of the game. Panhandle State had two players scoring double digits; Briana Marquez came off the bench to lead the Aggies with 20 points, followed by Johanna Quintero with 16. The Aggies hit the offensive boards aggressively, adding 21 additional points. Defensively, Panhandle State was a force reckoned with the whole game. The Aggies had 8 steals and scored 30 points off forced turnovers. Laky Samo led the Aggies with 6 rebounds and 1 steal of her own, followed by Tateum Jones with 5 rebounds.

Overall, the Aggies looked clean on both sides of the ball. Every Aggie contributed this evening, and the Aggie bench came up strong, totaling 50 points for the win. The Aggies were 50% from the field, nearly 70% from the free-throw line, and held the Tigers to 15 points or less each quarter.

Head coach Victor Esparza stated, "I am proud of how our girls came out ready to compete. Every single person played their hearts out tonight from start to finish. We played team ball and got the job done."

The win tonight moves the Aggies to 3-2 overall in the early season and gives Panhandle State their first conference win of the season. Then, the Aggies head south to face Langston University on December 4th for a 2 pm game.
