CHICKASHA, Okla. - Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball hung close to the University of Arts and Science- Oklahoma most of the way, before eventually falling in the Sooner Athletic Conference bout, 82-64. The Aggies fell to 4-6 overall and 4-6 in SAC games, while the Drovers improved to 11-3 on the year and 8-1 in league.
USAO would lead OPSU wire-to-wire in a game that was a late add to the Panhandle schedule. OPSU stayed close, down by eight at halftime and 10 points heading into the final quarter. However, an Aggie dry spell to open the fourth would seal the team's fate in the game, as USAO extended its advantage.
Sophomore guard
Myra McCaskill paced the OPSU offense. McCaskill had a team-leading 23 points, by far her best effort as an Aggie, thus far. She hit 8-of-16 from the field and pulled down seven rebounds.
Sophomore post player
Morgan Williamson added 12 points, hitting 6-of-10 shots. She also corralled six rebounds.
Senior
Cassia McCaskill was held to 11 points on a tough 4-for-12 shooting night. She hauled in seven rebounds, to go along with three assists.
Tateum Jones matched the McCaskill cousins with seven rebounds, as well.
Both teams shot identical totals of 42.9 percent from the field. However, USAO forced the Aggies into 19 turnovers (while committing nine miscues of its own) and won the battle of bench scoring, 25-12.
The loss also snapped a three-game winning streak by OPSU. The Aggies will look to return to their winning ways on Thursday (Feb 11) at Southwestern Christian University. Tip-off in Bethany is slated for 6 p.m.
