Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – A slow start doomed Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball in an 80-58 Sooner Athletic Conference road loss at Southwestern Christian University. The loss left the Aggies record at 4-7 overall and 4-7 in the SAC, while the Eagles upped their record to 10-3 and 6-3 in league.
Panhandle found itself down 23-8 after the first quarter of action, putting the visiting Aggies in a big hole early. OPSU played SCU fairly even after that, trailing at the half, 43-25. SCU outscored Panhandle 20-19 in the third and 17-14 in the fourth quarter.
Cassia McCaskill's 16 points topped the Aggies' scoring, the only OPSU player in double-figure scoring. McCaskill hit 6-of-15 from the field. She also hauled in three rebounds.
Sophomore center
Morgan Williamson tallied nine points, making 4-of-5 from the field, and pulled down four rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Tateum Jones led OPSU in rebounds, pulling down 11 boards. Jones also booked eight points and had four assists.
Laura Moya Demures chipped in six points and
Myra McCaskill five. Four points from
Jo Quintero and two from
Alie Parkhurst rounded out Panhandle State's scoring.
The Eagles were opportunistic, forcing the Aggies into 22 turnovers which they converted into 26 points. OPSU was also beaten inside, with SCU getting 32 points in the paint (compared to 22 by Panhandle).
