GOODWELL, Okla. - It proved to be a tough day at the office for Oklahoma Panhandle State University football versus Dordt University, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, in a 53-0 home loss on Senior Day. It was the Aggies' fourth game this season versus an NAIA top-20 team.
Panhandle State paid tribute to its senior class in pre-game ceremonies. The 12 seniors included:
The Defenders (8-2) led OPSU 14-0 after one quarter and built a 38-0 cushion by halftime.
Panhandle State was unable to mount much of a resistance on offense, as they were out-gained by Dordt, 662-145. OPSU had 120 passing and just 25 rushing yards on the afternoon.
Jaishone Brown had two catches for 55 yards.
Chris Daley and
Charjay Hunt each had 23 receiving yards. Hunt had a team-leading three grabs.
Brown also averaged 18.5 yards per kickoff return.
On defense,
Ja'Quavion Daniels had a game-leading 10 total tackles (five solo).
Warren Dillon and
D'Quan Charles each had eight stops.
Malachi Green-Hightower and
Braden Price had seven tackles, each. Price had one forced fumble, as well.
The Aggies will look to rebound next Saturday, April 3, when they travel to Batesville, Arkansas to face Lyon College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
