Aggies Take Series over Mid-American Christian, 2-1

Josiah Roundtree fanned eight batters in 4.2 innings of work but it was not enough as the Aggies fell to Mid-America Christian University  (MACU) 8-6 on Sunday.

Roundrtree, who came in relief for Zeke Dougan, allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth to give MACU the win. The Aggies, who took the first two games of the three game series, move to 11-30 and 6-15 in league action.

Panhandle State jumped to an early lead, scoring five runs in the bottom of the second. With one out on the board, Chris Schraer, Tucker Bond, and Luis Dermas belted back-to-back-to-back singles, driving in two runs to open the inning. A walk and an error ensued and three runs scored on a double to deep right off Ethan Hunt.

MACU answered back to take a 6-5 lead, scoring two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. The Aggies tied the game, 6-6, in the bottom of the sixth, when Ryan Mitchell, who pinch hit for Zack Madrigal, scored on a Mekhi Edwards double.

A hit by pitch, a sac bunt, and two singles in the top of the ninth gave MACU the 8-6 edge. Panhandle State left two runners on base in the ninth, including one in scoring position, but could not convert, falling to MACU.

The Aggies won Game 1 in a14-1 romp of MACU and followed with a 7-6 win in the nightcap on Saturday.

"The guys played very well this weekend." OPSU head coach Shawn Joy said. "We played together and showed what kind of team we can be. Anytime you win a series you've got to be happy."
