The Aggies split with Saints in double-header at Hodgetown Stadium.
AMARILLO, TX- Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Aggies competed against Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in a double-header at Hodgetown Stadium. The Aggies dropped game one by the score of 3-4, but rallied for a comeback to take game by the score of 14-13.
In game one both teams held off any runs until the top of the third. OLLU was able to get 1 run in, where the Aggies were able to get two runs in. Aggie
Logan Patterson started the momentum as the first to get on base due to the Saint's infield bobble.
Mekhi Edwards, single to right center advanced Patterson across home plate for the score. Following
Ethan Hunt single to short, got another Aggie on base and led to Edward's crossing home plate. However, the Saints were able to stop the Aggies runs to end the inning with Aggies in the lead 2-1.
It wasn't until the top of the fifth when OLLU was able to tie the game 2-2 and, hold off the Aggies from scoring at the bottom of the fifth. The Saints were able to rattle off two more runs in the top of the 6
th inning to increase the lead. Aggies fighting to keep the game close. It was the bottom of the 7
th, when
Markus Bracey homered over the right field fence on a 3-2 count.
The Saints slipped away from the Aggies with the score 4-3 in game one. And, in 20 minutes, both teams took the field to play one more contest before calling it a night.
Aggies took bat in game 2 hungry for redemption. Game two was full of action, and it started off immediately in the first inning. Aggies were able to put together a good series that brought Mekhi to advance around the diamond.
Lane Field, stepped up at bat and sent it over the center field fence for a 2-run home run, on a 1-2 count, bringing the Aggies closer to the Saints, score 3-4.
Aggie's bats continued to be on fire throughout the game, scoring 2 runs in the second inning, 4 runs in the fourth, 1 run in the fifth, and 4 runs in the sixth inning. The Aggies produced a total of 14 RBIs and, it was a complete team effort.
