GOODWELL, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State University closed out the regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Southwestern Christian University, clinching the No. 6-slot for the Sooner Athletic Conference post-season tournament. The Aggies (10-6) rolled over the Eagles by set scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-15 at Anchor D Arena.
It was also Senior Day for Panhandle State, as the program honored its lone senior,
McKenna Clement, in post-game ceremonies.
Versus SCU, the Aggies hit a blistering .405 for the match, while limiting the Eagles to a negative-.012. OPSU also served up a total of seven aces.
Essence West led the Aggies' attack by amassing 13 kills and a .500 attack average for the match. West was also solid on defense with a team-leading nine digs.
Ana Pimenta also had double figures in kills, with 10 in 17 attempts (one error) for a .529 attack average. She had six digs and three serve aces.
The OPSU setting combo of
Lesly Galarza and
Celenia Toribio combined for 31 assists. Galarza had 17 helps and Toribio 14.
Middle blocker
Ebony Dykes led Panhandle with four blocks.
Eduarda Souza added a pair of blocks, to go along with her five kills.
Panhandle State will open play in the SAC quarterfinals on Tuesday (April 6/7 p.m.) at No. 3-seed Wayland Baptist University.
