Box Score 2 WICHITA, Kan. — Twenty-five teams will compete at this year's KCAC Volleyball Fall Fling at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kan. on August 20-21. All thirteen KCAC schools will participate, as well as teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference, the Heart of America Athletic Conference, the Red River Athletic Conference, and the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Day 1 the Panhandle State Aggies competed in two matches, splitting on the day. The Aggies faced Bethel College at 12:00 pm to open tournament play. The Aggies swept the Threshers in three straight sets. Setters
Lesly Galarza and
Celenia De Leon Toribio led the team with a well-balanced offense, allowing over 6 Aggies to hit above .250.
Ebony Dykes hit .667,
Eduarda Souza hit .455 on the match, Alayns Ruiz hit .455,
Olivia Cunningham hit .429 and,
Essence West hit .250.
The Aggies concluded the first day of tournament play versus St. Mary's (KS), at 6:00 pm. The match from the start was a heated battle, each team trading off points. There were over 24 tied scores and 9 different lead changes. The Aggies out blocked St. Mary's 9 to 3, led by Dykes with 2 solo blocks and 3 assist blocks. The three top attackers for the game were Souza hitting .381, West with .267 and Cunningham swinging .250 on the night. The Aggies showed fight throughout the match but saw victory slip in a 1-3 loss.
The Aggies are set to play two matches tomorrow. First serve is at 11:00 am vs Avila, and the last match is set for 5:00 pm vs York College.
