Box Score SILOAM SPRINGS, AR. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Volleyball headed to Siloam Springs, Arkansas to compete against John Brown University Golden Eagles.
The first two sets were a heated battle between the pin hitters. Each team taking turns siding out efficiently and not letting their opponent get out ahead. It came to an end when the Golden Eagles were able to string 3 points in a row to end set one 26-24, 25-22.
Aggies two sets down, determined to change the game around, came firing on all cylinders. Thou, the Golden Eagles pushed to tie the score at times. The Aggies fought hard and able to win set 3, 25-21, pushing the game to set four.
Set four had a rocky start for the Aggies as they could not get into a system. The Golden Eagles had an answer for every attack the Aggies would throw. Aggies did not let it stop them and continued to fight. However, the Golden Eagles were able to close out the match 20-25.
The Aggie offense was led by pin hitters
Essence West and
Zoe Fry. West getting 13 kills out of 35 attempts, hitting .285. Fry had 8 kills on 22 attempts. Middles
Keera Parks,
Idalisia Agbaosi and
Ebony Dykes provided 10 kills, 5 blocks and, 5 block assists. In addition, Parks had 5 services aces. Senior setters
Lesly Galarza and
Celenia De Leon Toribio had a combined 33 set assists, 10 digs and, 1 service ace.
Defense was led by sophomore libero McKenna Coppock, senior
Ashley Sanchez and sophomore
Gracie Soza. The defense had a combined of 40 dug balls of the Golden Eagles. Soza also had 3 services aces.
Next up for the Aggies is to host Texas Wesleyan University on Friday, September 24
th in Anchor D. Arena at 6pm. Then, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Tx) on Saturday, September 25
th at Noon.
