Aggie Volleyball Swept Langston in Three

Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Volleyball team opened Sooner Athletic Conference play against Langston University Lions tonight at 6 pm in Anchor D. Arena.
 
The Aggies came out strong in the first set, with aggressive serves that put the Lions on their heels and allowing the Aggies to capitalize. Taking the lead early in the set and never looking back, the Aggies had eight services aces on the night versus the Lions 3.
 
The second set was a battle for both teams. The Lions pressured the Aggies with tough serves and strong blocks, which gave the Lions the lead. It was not until halfway through the set when the Aggies made a strong comeback and were able to tie the game and eventually win.
 
The Aggies were able to maintain control of the final set and, sweep the Lions in three straight sets. Freshman Olivia Cunningham, from Louisville, Kentucky led the Aggies tonight hitting .400, following close behind was Junior, Alanys Ruiz from Bayamón, Puerto Rico hitting .333 with 12 kills and two block assists.
 
Head Coach Julie Allen shared "we played against a very competitive, talented team that made us (Aggies) work for each point. And, I am very proud of our team, despite the rough start to set two, we stayed strong and were able to pull out a very tough set two win. The Aggies showed grit throughout the match."
 
Coach Allen continued on sharing "I would like to say thank you to all of our Aggie Family, Friends and Teams for coming out to Anchor D. Arena tonight and showing us love. It was an amazing time to play in front of you."
 
The Aggie Volleyball team is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, September 4th at 12:00 pm versus Central Christian University.
