The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Volleyball Team hosted Southwestern Christian University Eagles this afternoon at Anchor D. Arena. The Aggies won in three straight sets 25-8, 25-13, 25-14. The win places the Aggies in a three-way tie for 4th place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Aggies came out firing on all cylinders, in control of each set from the beginning and not looking back. The Aggies with a team-hitting percentage in set one, .387, set two .258, and set three with .257. The offense was run by two setters, senior
Lesly Galarza and junior
Remi Vargas. Galarza had 13 assists, three digs, and one service ace, and Vargas with a double-double: 14 assists and ten digs.
The Aggies were on fire, starting with the middle blockers
Ebony Dykes and
Laren Baldowsky. Dykes had six kills, hitting .750 and had two solo blocks, and Baldowsky had seven kills, hitting .538 and had two solo blocks. Following, the opposites
Joelle Laforce and
Ava Newby also provided strong attacks. Laforce had six kills, hitting .278, and Newby with seven kills, hitting .158. And the outside hitters
Angela Youngs and
Essence West. Youngs had four kills and three digs, and West with five kills and nine digs.
The defensive efforts by the Aggies match the offensive attack as well. It was led by junior
Gracie Soza, who had 20 digs and three aces. Followed by senior
Ashley Sanchez, who had 12 digs, and Vargas with ten digs.

Julie Allen shared, "I am very proud of the team. They played very well this afternoon against a tough team. The Aggies were determined, and it was shown from the beginning of the match throughout."
The Aggies hit the road next weekend to begin the second half of conference season play. The Aggies will head to Oklahoma City to play Mid-America Christian University (MACU) on Friday, Oct. 7th. And to Chickasha to play University of Science and Arts on Oct. 8th.
