GOODWELL, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies Volleyball hosted Oklahoma City University Stars. Both teams come into the match 5 – 3 in Sooner Athletic Conference, tied for fourth place. The Aggies had a pep rally immediately after the game and proclaimed this year's homecoming king and queen at the event.
Every single set of the match was a hard-fought and intense battle. Throughout the entirety of the game, both the Aggies and the Stars were able to keep the advantage within a few points. The Aggies were able to keep the Stars below their hitting average in 2 of 3 sets and gave them a challenge in the serve-receive game. When compared to the Stars' three aces and eleven errors, the Aggies had three aces and three errors. The Stars defeated the Aggies in three sets, with the scores 22-25, 24-26, and 23-25. Despite the strong effort put up by the Aggie squad, the Stars won in three sets.
Angela Youngs, a junior, had an outstanding hitting night, finishing with nine kills on 24 tries and a batting hitting average of.250. After Youngs, the next highest kill total was achieved by
Essence West with nine, followed by
Joelle Laforce with five, and
Ebony Dykes with four kills and two blocks. Junior
Gracie Soza recorded 17 digs throughout the match, making her the defensive player of the night, she had the highest record of digs for either team.
Tomorrow at noon, the Aggies' home game against Southwestern Christian will take place in Anchor D. Arena.
