Panhandle State Falls in Series Finale

FORT WORTH, Texas - Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball would drop the series final against the Texas Wesleyan Rams. A hard-fought effort for the Aggie hitters but they would be unable to match the offensive output from the Rams.

After securing the series victory the day prior Head Coach Shawn Joy expected a similar level of play from his team going into the finale. "We came out and played well early but didn't keep it up. Tough day but a great weekend anytime you win a series on the road."

Senior RHP Josiah Roundtree would get the start in the series finale against the Rams. After putting up a quick zero for the Aggies in the bottom of the first Roundtree looked to be dialed in against TWU. However, it would not be so as the Rams would begin to tee off against the senior. Chasing Roundtree after three and a third innings after having scored seven.

Corbin Yandell would be the first out of the pen for the Aggies but would be unable to record an out after surrendering a three-run home run. Juan Javier would be the next man up. Javier would not fare much better. The Rams would score another four runs before the Aggies would make another pitching change.

Tate Nebhut and Jostynn Mieses would finish the game. Combing for two-thirds of an inning pitched.

The Aggies would strike first against the Rams with a three-run top of the first. The inning kicked off with a walk from Luis Dermas and a single from Ethan Hunt. Jonathan Applebury would score Dermas with a single through the right side only to be followed up with another single from Manrique Mora.

Dermas would jump-start the Aggie offense after a few quiet innings for Panhandle State. Driving a double off the left-field wall. Hunt would mimic Dermas with a double of his own. That would be all she wrote for the Aggies in the innings as strikeouts would get the better of the four, five, and six hitters.

The Aggies would face a twelve-run deficit heading into the top of the seventh. Unable to score enough to avoid the game ending, the Aggies would be run-ruled 17-7 against the Texas Wesleyan Rams.

Panhandle State baseball hosts the Southwestern Assemblies of God Lions for their first series at Carroll Gribble Field for the year. First pitch will be at 12 PM Friday, March 25th.
