Lions Take Series From Aggies

GOODWELL, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball team falls in the series finale against the Southwestern Assemblies of God Lions 15-1.

The Aggie bats could not wake up and duplicate their success from game one against the Lions. Strikeouts and errors would be the bane for the Aggies in game three and over the series.

Senior RHP Josiah Roundtree would earn the loss in his third start of the season. A strong showing in the beginning for the senior as he struck out five batters in his first three innings of work. Roundtree would only allow three runs in his first five innings of work before the Lion bats would knock him around for four more in the top of the sixth.

Joaquin Carlos would head to the mound after Roundtree. A short-lived outing as he would not record an out against the Lions. Brandon Rodriguez and Corbin Bailey would finish out the game for the Aggies. Combining for one and two-thirds of an inning. Giving up four runs in that span.

With the Lions getting out to an early three to nothing lead the Aggies once again found themselves playing from behind. The bats looked like they would work themselves out of the deficit by loading the bases in multiple innings. Shortstop Manrique Mora would bring around the lone Aggie run in the bottom of the fourth with a single through the right side.

The lack of run production was only a part of what precipitated the loss. Five errors in game three extended numerous innings for the Lions. Errors that contributed directly to six runs for the Lions.

Panhandle State baseball heads back to Carroll Gribble Field for a mid-week matchup Tuesday, March 29th against the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers.
