Aggie track and field had a nice relaxing track meet at Lubbock Christian University early this week as they head into Easter weekend. With only four other teams competing at this event there was a nice calming feeling headed into the early events on the track. First to step on the track was freshman
Bonita Gray to set the pace winning the women's 1500m run. Close on the heels of her finish was the 100m hurdles where
Zoe Salazar snagged a win and later a second place in the women's javelin.
Willie McCline had a great holiday meet where he set PR's again in the 100m and 200m dash. The Hobbs, New Mexico duo of
Jamiah Clay and
Azucena Carrillo ran hard with their families cheering from the stands taking silver and bronze in the women's 400m dash. Two more exciting wins for the Aggies came in the women's 400m hurdles and 800m run when
Abbey Goode and Patti Gray competed finding little competition on the track. Rounding out the few hours at LCU the Aggie's men and women's 4x400m relays warmed up to set new personal records. The women found little competition as the grabbed the gold by over 200m; the men competed hard for silver as a team of Chris Lewis,
Arturo Lozano,
Arturo Vallejo, and
Colby Perez set a new PR narrowly getting out run by Garden City Community College.
Next week will be eventful for the Aggies as they travel to John Brown for a SAC Invitational meet in hopes of hitting times that will send them to the national meet in May.
