Box Score 4 GOODWELL, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Volleyball Team hosted the Aggie Classic in Anchor D. Arena and Noble Center this past weekend. In addition to Panhandle State, the tournament consisted of seven additional universities. The Aggies concluded the tournament with 3 wins and 1 loss, a fantastic beginning to the 2022 Fall Season.
The Aggies hosted two opponents on day one: Paul Quinn at 2:00 pm and Bethel College at 6:00 pm.
The Aggies defeated Paul Quinn College of Dallas, Texas, 3-0 in their season opener. Highlights from the match were Freshmen
Bryanna Rosario hitting .294, six digs and one serving ace,
Ava Newby hitting .217, one solo block and two assist blocks, and
Sydney Mills hitting .500. Incoming juniors Joelle LaForce hitting .231. In addition, Angela Young hit .294,
Remi Vargas hit .500. And returners Ebony West hit .273 and had three assist blocks.
In the second match, the Aggies hosted Bethel college. The scores in the first three sets of the match were within two or three points. Then, the Aggies started the fourth set aggressively and were determined to win, 25-19. The Aggies defeated Bethel 3-1. The match's highlights were from two top Aggies in double-digit kills:
Essence West and Joelle LaForce.
Essence West had 21 kills and hit .395, earning her team 22 points on the night. Joelle LaForce had 12 kills and hit .409, four digs, and three block assists. Defensively the Aggies also out dug Bethel, 62-59. Returners
Ashley Sanchez recorded ten digs and two aces, while
Gracie Soza recorded 14 digs and four aces.
On day two, the Aggies hosted Friends University at noon and Avila University at 4:00 pm.
In the first match, The Aggies' offense was on fire; there were three Aggies with double-digit kills,
Essence West (12),
Bryanna Rosario (11), and
Ava Newby (10). Setters
Lesly Galarza and
Remi Vargas ran the Aggie offense, balancing out the attacking and keeping Friends University defense constantly guessing. Lesly had five kills, 24 assists, and five digs in the match. Remi had 13 assists, two service aces, and three digs throughout the match. Junior
Gracie Soza led the Aggies in the defensive performance with 15 digs, three aces, and four assists.
In the tournament's final match, the Aggies hosted Avila. Both sides were exhausted from the hard-fought weekend matches previous; they gave it their all in the last match. The Aggies went point for point with Avila but couldn't gain control of the lead. As a result, Avila defeated the Aggies in three sets: 25-22, 25-20, 25-22. Junior Joelle LaForce led the Aggies by hitting .211 and four block assists. She was followed by
Lesly Galarza, who had 12 digs, one ace, and four kills.

Julie Allen stated, "I am so proud of our team. Each match the team came prepared to play, compete and was focused on making the most of each point. This tournament had many great teams and opponents which did allow us to be challenged and learn more about ourselves. I look forward to taking what we learned and getting better this week before the next tournament."
Next up for the Aggies is to head to Nebraska, where they compete in the Hastings College Classic. The Aggies will play on August 27th at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm and on August 28th at 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
