GOODWELL, Okla-Aggies women's basketball hit the halfway point of their season as they faced University North Texas at Dallas Thursday night.
In the first quarter of the game, the Trailblazers went up 9-0. Senior
Morgan Williamson would hit the first basket for the Aggies at the 5:39 mark. The Trailblazers would hit a three-pointer going up 18-4 with 2:48 left in the quarter. Sophomore
Chevelle Ralstin would respond with a three-pointer of her own, making the score 7-18. The Aggies would rally with a 5-0 run to close out the quarter 14-22.
In the second quarter, the Aggies would be outscored by the Trailblazers 8-17 making the score 22-39 going into the half.
Coming out of the break, the Aggies would see the Trailblazers lead climb by 23. The Aggies would make an 8-2 run cutting into the Trailblazers' lead by 16. The Aggies would play it close, getting within 13 points of the Trailblazers. Aggies would outscore the Trailblazers 25-21 in the 3rd quarter.
Entering the final quarter of the game, the Aggies came out ready. Senior
Tateum Jones would start the Aggies with a 10-2 run with a good three-pointer. Junior
Sierra Tate nailed a good layup getting the Aggies within 6 points with 7:13 left in the game. With 1 minute left in the game, Sophomore
Mariah Williams made a layup as she got fouled and made her free throw, scoring 67-71. With seconds left, Junior
Jamiya Eaddy would hit a three-pointer to get the Aggies within 1 point, but the Trailblazers would knock in 4 straight free throws making the final score 70-75 Trailblazers.
Leading the way for the Aggies was Senior
Tateum Jones with 14 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
As a team, the Aggies forced 20 turnovers with 15 steals.
The next women's basketball game will be on Saturday, January 21st, as they face Southwestern Assemblies of God University; tip-off will be at 2:00 PM.
