Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Women's Volleyball team hit the road this weekend and began the second half of conference play with Oklahoma City University Stars up first.
The match began with OPSU taking the first set with a score of 25-23, setting the tone. However, the Oklahoma City Stars regrouped and went on to win the next three sets, with scores of 25-21, 25-11, and 25-19, ultimately securing the match victory.
Head Coach Nick Serowski expressed his pride in the team's performance, saying, "For as young as we are, we continue to show improvement in skill and grit. A 3-12 record doesn't accurately show the talent and skill level of this team. I'm looking forward to the day it clicks so they can show everyone the team we believe them to be."
In the third set, Oklahoma City University demonstrated exceptional hitting talent with a hit percentage of .560. Despite the challenges, the Aggies put up a strong fight, led by the outstanding attacking efforts of Ava Newby and Bryanna Rosario, each contributing 9 kills to the team's effort. Joelle LaForce and Taylor Alsaid also made notable contributions with 7 kills each. Mia Sanchez played a crucial role by assisting on 30 of the team's 35 kills.
With a limited number of blocks during the match, the Aggies relied on their defensive digging skills. Bryanna Rosario led the team with 18 digs, followed by Kensey Clifton with 15 and Taylor Alsaid with 14.
OPSU will have a quick turnaround as they face John Brown University tomorrow afternoon at 4 PM at the opponent's home court. The team is determined to avenge their previous 5-set loss to John Brown earlier in September.
