The OPSU Equestrian team had an impressive season, finishing fifth overall in the region with Coach Kacey Ward leading the charge in her first year coaching the team. The riders showed determination and talent, earning many top placings throughout the season.
Throughout the season, the team had many top placings, with several riders standing out for their exceptional performances. Eva Johnson won multiple open reining classes, showcasing her skills and talent in this demanding discipline. Natalie Nordman was equally impressive, winning several rookie western horsemanship classes with her precision and poise in the saddle. Brett Coffman was a consistent performer, placing in the top three at multiple shows throughout the season.
Carly Jones, Shelby Eck, Paige Pearson, Nahomy Corral-Olivas, and Grace Dillinger also contributed to the team's success, placing in many western horsemanship classes, and showing their abilities as skilled riders. Unfortunately, Jayelynn Powell, who started the season strong with multiple placings in both western horsemanship and ranch riding, suffered an injury that cut her season short. Despite this setback, the team persevered and finished the season strong.
The team's success is a testament to their dedication and hard work throughout the season. They faced tough competition but were able to overcome obstacles and push themselves to new heights. Coach Ward's leadership, expertise, and guidance were instrumental in helping the riders develop their skills and prepare for each competition. Her unwavering support and encouragement helped the team stay focused and motivated throughout the season.
As the team prepares for next year, they are focused on building on their successes and continuing to improve their skills. With Coach Ward's guidance and the riders' hard work, the OPSU Equestrian team is poised for even greater achievements in the future.
The OPSU community is proud of the Equestrian team's accomplishments and congratulates them on a successful season.
