GOODWELL, Okla- The Aggies baseball team went on the road this past weekend for a three-game series against Texas Wesleyan University. The Aggies got swept in the three-game series.
Game One:Â The Aggies took the lead in the first inning from a Tucker Bond ground out to score Ryota Kusumoto. The Rams took the lead in the second inning, going up 4-1.Â
Junior Braeden LeJarraga took the mound for the Aggies, making his ninth start of the season. LeJarraga tossed four and one-thirds innings, allowing eight runs off nine hits. Junior Carlos Joaquin made his eighth appearance of the season from the bullpen allowing zero runs and striking out two in one-and-two-thirds innings.Â
Junior Ryota Kusumoto and Senior Tucker Bond fished 2-4 at the plate.
Aggies managed six hits as a team and five walks.
Game Two:Â The Aggies got their first runs in the fourth inning when junior Jhonn Cabrera scored on a wild pitch, junior Jose Arrieta would end up scoring later in the inning, making the score 2-4 Rams.Â
Junior Justin Santos took the hill for the Aggies. Santos pitched four innings, allowing seven runs off seven hits, walking four batters, and striking out three. Sophomore Bryan Rivera and freshman Jacob Verdin both came out of the bullpen.Â
Tucker Bond and Sam Bond combined for four of the six hits.
Game Three:Â In the fourth inning, junior Jhonn Cabrera singled to left field to score Alejandro Hernandez to give the Aggies the first lead. Junior Jose Arrieta doubled to left center field to score two runs to go up 3-0. The Aggies would get another run in the fourth inning to go up 4-1. The Rams would return and take the lead in the sixth inning to go up 6-4.Â
Freshman Esai Torres took the mound for the Aggies, tossing three and two-thirds innings allowing three runs off of six hits.Â
Aggies will be home on Friday April 21Â as they face Southwestern Assemblies of God University, first pitch at noon.Â
