GOODWELL,OK- The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Men's Soccer team clinched a well-deserved 1-0 victory over Sterling College this past Saturday afternoon. The game proved to be a thrilling display of skill and determination, with Senior Daniel De Mello emerging as the hero by scoring early at the 19-minute and 33-second mark.
The match kicked off with an impressive performance by both teams, but it was De Mello's timely goal that set the tone for the Aggies' success.Â
The Aggies demonstrated their offensive prowess throughout the game, relentlessly pressing forward and creating numerous scoring opportunities. The team's efforts translated into a total of 15 shots on goal, reflecting their determination to secure a lead and maintain control of the match.
In addition to their impressive shot count, the Aggies also showcased their strategic prowess through 10 expertly executed corner kicks. These set-piece opportunities highlighted the team's versatility and their ability to capitalize on various situations to gain an advantage.
After the game coach Kull shared""It was a tough game that should be celebrated. Earning that result was a test of our identity. It's hard to go on the road and win but now this team has proven they can do it."Â
"In a gritty game we were able to rise to the level and not by intimated off the the field. A highlight is that we've been able to now score on set pieces in two games and kept shutouts in both. We need to work on some things and clean up how we handle some situations but you walk off pleased at the effort the group put in."
The Aggies will head to Salina,KS as the face Kansas Wesleyan University on Monday August 28th game will start at 7:30 PM.
