GOODWELL, Okla - The Aggie football team kicked off their conference season with a bang, securing a commanding 33-17 win against their rivals in Plainview, Texas.
The Aggie defense came out strong from the first whistle, making their presence felt early in the game. With just three minutes left in the first quarter, they recorded a safety, setting the tone for the game.
In the second quarter, CJ Campbell electrified the crowd with a 19-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Aggies a 9-0 lead. As the half was winding down, Brandon Stephens connected with CJ Campbell on a 56-yard pass for a touchdown, sending the team into halftime with a 16-7 lead.
The third quarter saw Alan Munoz adding to the scoreboard with a 27-yard field goal, extending the Aggies' lead. In the fourth quarter, Brandon Stephens took matters into his own hands, scoring two rushing touchdowns to secure the victory, with the final score of 33-17.
Kameron Dickerson was a standout on the defensive side, recording an impressive 10 tackles, 8 of which were solo efforts. Jazzir Merricks also made his mark by recording his first interception of the season.
CJ Campbell had a remarkable performance, amassing a total of 181 yards.
The Aggies are now gearing up for their next conference matchup, which will take them to Fort Worth, TX, where they will face Texas Wesleyan University on September 16th. The kickoff for this exciting game is set for 7:00 PM.
