GOODWELL,Okla-The OPSU men's soccer team faced off against Adams State University in their final non-conference matchup in Alamosa, Colorado, on Friday afternoon. The game was a closely contested battle, with both teams showing great defensive prowess during the first half. As the rain began to pour during the second half. At the 72nd minute mark, Mauricio De Santiago came through with a crucial goal, his second of the season. De Santiago's goal proved to be the difference-maker, giving the OPSU Aggies a 1-0 victory.
The Aggies demonstrated their offense by outshooting the Grizzlies 14-6 during the match.Â
After the game coach Garrett Kull shared"It's obviously a special day for the Aggies to get our first ever win against an NCAA D2 opponent. We have been trying to present unique opportunities for this team and being able to persevere has been key and today was no different. It's obviously tough playing on the road, at altitude, and with a weather delay, but I'm proud that this team loves to embrace the challenges and compete no matter the surrounding circumstances.Â
We had some key guys come in off the bench and play important roles. We were also able to lean on some of our staples in the lineup as well. Their stats won't show up but their value was the difference in the outcome.Â
As a staff we are happy with how comfortable these Aggies have become in close and late game situations. We made some changes at half time and were able to capitalize offensively. Now our focus turns to conference play which is what we have been looking forward to since the beginning of the season!"

The OPSU men's soccer team will now turn their attention to their conference opener as they travel to Plainview, Texas, to face Wayland Baptist University on Tuesday, September 26th. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
