GOODWELL,Okla – The OPSU Aggies Women's Soccer team traveled to Plainview, Texas, to kick off their conference campaign against Wayland Baptist University.
The game got off to an exciting start with the first goal coming at the 21:43 mark. Oklahoma Panhandle State's Katelyn Fitzgerald found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1. However, the Queens of Wayland Baptist University responded with two quick goals, taking a 3-1 lead into halftime.
In the second half, OPSU continued to fight hard. At the 67:04 mark, Rebecca Herriotts scored another goal for the Aggies, making the score 2-4. The late stages of the match saw a goal from Emma Daskalov scoring at 85:50, but it wasn't enough as Wayland Baptist University held on to secure a 5-3 victory.
As a team, the Lady Aggies displayed their offensive prowess with a total of 12 shots and 8 shots on goal during the game.
After the game coach Evan Camperell shared"The OPSU women's soccer team was on the wrong side of the scoreline tonight in an offensive thriller. The lady aggies exploded for three goals however it wasn't enough to secure the win. The team is looking ahead to their next match against Oklahoma City this upcoming Saturday"
