Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Women's Soccer team hit the road today to face off against a formidable opponent, the Oklahoma City University (OCU) Stars. In a hard-fought battle OCU ultimately claimed victory with a final score of 5-1.
The Stars came out strong in the first half, netting two goals to take a 2-0 lead. During the opening 45 minutes of play, OPSU managed one shot on goal, while OCU dominated with an impressive 15 shots on target. OPSU's goalkeeper, Mya Szymanski, showed her prowess with four crucial saves in the first half alone, contributing to her total of five saves throughout the game.
In the 58th minute, OPSU's Nila Munoz provided a glimmer of hope for the Aggies by scoring a solo goal. However, the Stars proved relentless, adding three more goals in the second half to secure the win.
Head Coach Evan Camperell said this following the matchup, "Our goalkeeper Mya Szymanski had a great first half. She kept us in the game going into the second half.
We have been on the road for our last three matches and are looking forward to hosting a home game again on Tuesday against SAGU."
Looking ahead, OPSU Women's Soccer will return to their home turf for their next match on Tuesday, October 3rd, when they take on SAGU at 5 PM.
