GOODWELL, Okla-The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Competitive Cheer Team is excited to be back in action in 2020. Although the Falcon Invite results may not have been ideal, it's a positive step forward for the team.
Here's a recap of their performance in Wichita, KS, at the Falcon Invite hosted by Friends University:
- Cumulative Score: 44.07
- Deductions: 2.07
- Final Score: 41.57
- Placement: 4th out of four institutions
It's always a learning experience, and I'm sure the Aggies will use this as motivation for their upcoming events. Congratulations to Friends University for winning the competition with a score of 73.40.
Reiley Opitz, Sydnee Roth, Kenzie Monroe, Azucena Carrillo, Emily Robertson, Alicen Hendrix, Jair Cruz, Angelique Andrews, Aracely Duran, and Jesus (Chuy)Â Porras participated in the event.Â
After the meet, coach Mistina Merwin Shared, "This was the first OPSU Cheer Competition in 4 years. Although this first competition was not the perfectly executed performance we hoped for, we gained valuable experience. We learned how to improve our scores as we moved forward into the rest of our season. I am proud of them for supporting each other as a team unit, finishing their performance enthusiastically, and smiling despite a few stunt follies. We know what we need to work on and are focused on making necessary routine changes to improve our scores."
Best of luck to the Aggies as they prepare for the Baker Classic hosted by Baker University on February 17th in Baldwin, KS.Â
