Men's Basketball Faces Tough Loss Against SAGU

Oklahoma Panhandle State University Men's Basketball team encountered a challenging match against the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU), resulting in a final score of 101-57.

The first half proved to be a struggle for OPSU as they faced difficulty finding their shot, going 0-12 from beyond the arc and shooting only 16% from the field. SAGU dominated the boards, securing 30 rebounds in the first half compared to OPSU's 21.

The second half saw Southwestern Assemblies of God University continuing their strong performance, shooting an impressive 54% from 3-point range in the half and finishing the game shooting 19-41 from 3. Despite the challenges, Fred Robinson emerged as a standout player for the Aggies, finishing the game with 29 points on 10-19 shooting from the field. Robinson also contributed 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

Sherlock Padmore II provided valuable support on the interior, responding from last game, contributing 5 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Joe Greaves contributed 5 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds to the Aggies' effort.

Head Coach Charles Belt commented after the tonight's loss, "Our league is really good, we have four teams ranked with in my opinion with John Brown being right there, and as a result when the snowball effect of losing happens there is no easy game to boost morale or "get you back on track." So as a result you have to find a way to break the streak by grinding out a win against a very good opponent, we haven't been able to do that. Tuesday another ranked opponent and have an opportunity to either break our losing streak or continue to search for answers."

Looking ahead, OPSU is set to hit the road for their next game on Tuesday, January 16th, at 8:00 PM against Wayland Baptist University.
