GOODWELL, Okla-The Aggies faced Arizona Christian University. Senior
Carlos Joaquin took the mound as the starting pitcher, his first season start. However, the Firestorm made an early impact with a two-run home run in the first inning, setting the tone for the game.
Despite Joaquin's efforts, the Firestorm continued to build their lead with an additional run in the 3rd and 4th innings, establishing a 4-0 lead.
The Aggies faced a crucial moment in the top of the 4th inning, having two runners in scoring position with only one out. Unfortunately, they couldn't capitalize on the opportunity and saw the inning conclude with a double play.
The bullpen trio of
Zach Mayhew,
Brandon Rodriguez, and Tyler Nebut stepped in to provide relief from the bullpen.
Aiden Davis,
Tucker Bond, and
Jett Brown each recorded a hit in the contest.
After the game, head coach
Shawn Joy shared, "We played well enough to hang with a team receiving votes but not well enough to win. Our bullpen threw well and kept us in the game. Our offense needs to make some improvements."
The Aggies are set to return to action tomorrow with a challenging doubleheader. First up, they'll face #19 Benedictine University Mesa at 11:00 AM (10:00 AM MST), followed by a matchup against Emery Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) at 3:00 PM (2:00 PM MST).
