Goodwell, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie volleyball team performed on Friday night, sweeping Central Christian College in straight sets, 25-19, 25-10, and 25-18. The Aggies showcased their dominance in all game phases, improving their conference standing and gaining valuable momentum.
The Aggies took control from the start, with Taylore Alsaid leading the attack with nine kills. Ava Newby added eight kills, and Mia Sanchez contributed 4, keeping the Central Christian defense on its heels. Sanchez's 5 aces highlighted the Aggies' aggressive serving, while Teagan Mendoza-Werner and Taylor Silva also made significant contributions with 2 and 1 aces, respectively.
Defensively, the Aggies were a wall at the net, as Brenna Moore and Emma Coburn led with 3 blocks each, showcasing their defensive strength. On the back row, Silva anchored the defense with 12 digs, while Alsaid and Sanchez each recorded 10, making it tough for Central Christian to get any offensive rhythm.
Sanchez was also stellar as the primary setter, dishing out 24 assists to keep the offense flowing, with Mendoza-Werner and Aurelia Pleets contributing 2 and 1 assists, respectively.
The Aggies displayed their depth and versatility throughout the match, gaining momentum as the game progressed. This was highlighted by a dominant second set in which they held Central Christian to just 10 points.
