Goodwell, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie volleyball team dominated in a straight-set sweep of Langston University, winning 25-22, 25-17, 25-15. The Aggies showcased their skill and teamwork to improve their record and continue their strong season in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Taylore Alsaid led the Aggies' offense, recording a match-high 11 kills. Ava Newby and Taylor Silva added to the attack, tallying 9 and 7 kills, respectively. Mia Sanchez contributed four kills while also playing a pivotal role as the team's primary setter, dishing out an impressive 27 assists.
The Aggies' defense held firm, with key contributions across the board. Silva led the team with six digs, while Alsaid, Newby, and Teagan Mendoza-Werner each chipped in 5 digs to keep Langston at bay. Mendoza-Werner also dominated at the service line, racking up 5 service aces, followed by Alsaid and Silva, adding two aces.
In total blocks, Sanchez, Cami Kenny, and Newby each recorded two blocks, while Silva added one, further highlighting the Aggies' defensive efforts at the net.
The Aggies will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next conference matchup. Head Coach Myers praised the team's execution and intensity: "We played with great energy and really stuck to our game plan."
