GOODWELL, Okla. – The women's soccer team made history on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wayland Baptist University 2-0 in a pivotal Sooner Athletic Conference matchup. This marks the first time in program history that the Aggies have won more than one conference game in a season and their first-ever victory over the Pioneers, improving their record to 1-5-1 against them.
The Aggies came out strong, opening the scoring in the 24th minute when Lindsey Harris assisted from Emma Daskalov.
Over 10 minutes later, Harris returned the favor, assisting Dayana Murillo in the 35th minute. Murillo's goal put the Aggies up 2-0, a lead they would hold for the remainder of the match.
While Wayland Baptist outshot OPSU 14-5, with six shots on goal, the Aggies' defense held firm. Goalkeeper AlaraLynn Gunderson made six crucial saves to earn her fourth win and third shutout of the season, tying the most wins in a single season since 2021 set by Mya Szymanski, along with the most shutouts in a single season.
