GOODWELL, Okla. – The Aggies men's basketball team battled but ultimately fell to Central Christian College, 82-69, in their home conference opener on Thursday night. The game saw strong performances from both sides, with the Aggies building an early lead before Central Christian's high-efficiency shooting secured them the win in the second half.
The Aggies were led by
Amaree Brown, who scored 15 points, including 6-7 from the free throw line, while grabbing four rebounds and adding a steal.
Kyle Belgrave II provided a spark with 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Raul Nunez contributed 12 points off the bench, including two three-pointers, as the Aggies tallied 32 total bench points.
Aggies shot 36.7% from the field and struggled beyond the arc, converting just 5 of 25 three-point attempts (20.0%). The team's aggressive play led to 48 rebounds, 19 of which were offensive, giving them 18 second-chance points. However, turnovers continued challenging the Aggies, as their ten turnovers led to 8 points for Central Christian.
Despite holding a seven-point lead at one point, the Aggies couldn't maintain control as Central Christian surged in the final minutes, capitalizing on efficient shooting and solid free-throw performance. The Tigers built their largest lead of 17 points with under two minutes remaining, ultimately securing the 82-69 victory.
The Aggies now 2-2 (0-1) will look to bounce back this Saturday, November 16, as they host #1-ranked Langston University at 6:00 PM in the Anchor D Arena at Oscar Williams Field House.
