GOODWELL, Okla-The Aggies baseball team faced a doubleheader against Peru State College, ultimately splitting the day with a win and a loss.
Game One Recap: Aggies 9, Bobcats 6
In a thrilling comeback, the Aggies overcame an early 5-0 deficit with an explosive 9-run 5th inning, securing a 9-6 victory over the Bobcats. Isaiah Halton shone at the plate, going 2-3 and driving in three crucial runs. David Garcia's three-run blast in the 5th inning ignited the Aggies' surge, tying the game and shifting momentum in their favor. Josh Doerr delivered a solid performance on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, and striking out four. With this win, Doerr improved his record to 3-1.
Game Two Recap: Aggies 7, Bobcats 17
Despite a strong start with a 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by Jeremy Dibartolomeo's two-run homer, the Aggies fell short in the second game, losing 7-17 to the Bobcats. Ryota Kusumoto's solo home run broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the second inning, but the Bobcats surged ahead with seven runs in the 4th inning, ultimately overwhelming the Aggies. Colby Diduch started on the mound for the Aggies but faced challenges, pitching three and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on three hits, and walking six batters.
Head coach Shawn Joy shared " We played well in Game 1 and got off to a good start in Game 2 but we let it slip away. Looking forward to coming back and getting after it tomorrow"
The Aggies will return to action tomorrow, with the first pitch scheduled at noon.Â
