Aggies Drop Both Games to Cowboys in Doubleheader at Hodgetown

GOODWELL,Okla- The OPSU Aggies faced off against the New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys in a thrilling four-game series at Hodgetown. Unfortunately for the Aggies, Friday afternoon saw them drop doubleheader games to the Cowboys, scoring 3-4 and 6-8, respectively.

Game 1 Recap:

In the first game, the Aggies got a strong start, scoring all three of their runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jeremy Dibartolomeo ignited the offense with a crucial double, bringing in one run. The following batter, David Garcia, crushed a two-run home run, putting the Aggies ahead 3-0 early in the game. However, the Cowboys fought back, gradually chipping away at the lead. They tied the game in the fourth inning and eventually took the lead in the fifth inning, securing a 4-3 victory over the Aggies.

Game 2 Recap:

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Aggies found themselves trailing early as the Cowboys put up five runs in the second inning. Despite the deficit, the Aggies showed resilience, clawing their way back into the game. Aiden Davis and Bill Bonner contributed with timely hits in the bottom of the second inning, bringing the score to 3-5 in favor of the Cowboys. The game remained tight, with both teams battling fiercely.

Ryota Kusumoto and Jeremy Dibartolomeo provided some offensive fireworks for the Aggies with home runs. However, the Cowboys managed to hold on, ultimately sealing the game with a final score of 8-6.

Despite the setbacks, the Aggies displayed determination and fought hard until the final out.

After the game, head coach Shawn Joy mentioned, "We played well enough to lose by a run and two runs but not well enough to win. We need to come out expecting to win."

The Aggies look to bounce back tomorrow as they look to even the series. The next game is scheduled for tomorrow, with the first pitch at noon.
