Baseball Split Series Against University of the Southwest

GOODWELL,Okla- The OPSU baseball team faced off against the University of the Southwest in a thrilling series this past Friday, ultimately splitting the games. In the first game, the Aggies secured a solid victory with an 8-3 score, however, the Aggies faced a tough challenge in the second game, falling short with a 2-8 defeat.

Game Three Highlights:

  • Result: OPSU 8 - USW 3
  • Pitching Performance: Josh Doerr led the charge for the Aggies, starting on the hill and pitching five strong innings. He allowed three runs off five hits and struck out four. Brandon Rodriguez provided valuable support from the bullpen, pitching two innings and striking out two.
  • Offensive Highlights: Ryota Kusumoto's single in the second inning gave the Aggies a crucial 4-0 lead. Jeremy Dibartolomeo stood out with an impressive performance, leading the team with three RBIs.

Game Four Recap:

  • Result: OPSU 2 - USW 8
  • Pitching Performance: Tate Nebhut started on the mound for the Aggies, pitching two innings and allowing three runs off one hit and two walks. Tyler Nebhut, Leandra Tamaki, and Carlos Joaquin appeared from the bullpen.
  • Offensive Stats: The Aggies totaled five hits in the contest but faced challenges, allowing nine baserunners.
After the game head coach Shawn Joy shared "We split a series with a good team but really wanted to get this last one. We played very well all weekend and looking forward to see this team continue to improve."
