Aggies Fall Short Against SCU

GOODWELL,Okla- The OPSU Aggies faced off against Southwestern Christian University on Saturday afternoon, following a split in yesterday's doubleheader. Unfortunately, the Aggies couldn't clinch the rubber game, falling to the Eagles with a final score of 4-6.

The Eagles took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the 2nd inning. However, in the fifth inning, Ryota Kusumoto of the Aggies managed to get the team on the board with a powerful two-RBI triple, narrowing the gap to 2-3.

Despite the Aggies' efforts, the Eagles extended their lead with runs in the 7th and 8th innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Jose Arrieta's double allowed Isaiah Halton to score, bringing the score to 3-6.

In a thrilling bottom of the ninth inning, Halton's single brought Aiden Davis across the plate, making it 4-6. However, the Aggies couldn't capitalize on the momentum, leaving the bases loaded and ultimately falling short.

After the series head coach Shawn Joy said"We battled hard and came to win.We just had a few too many strikeouts and free passes"

Looking ahead, the Aggies will return to action on March 5th as they take on Southern Nazarene University in a non-conference doubleheader. The first pitch is set for noon, and fans can expect an exciting matchup as the Aggies look to bounce back.
