Goodwell, OK – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies baseball team had a challenging afternoon at home this Friday, taking on Mid-America Christian University Evangels in a doubleheader. The Aggies were overcome in both games, with final scores of 7-14 in the opening game and 1-18 in the second.
Game One Recap:
The Evangels took an early lead, putting up three runs in the second inning, and continued to build on their lead throughout the game. Josh Doerr started on the mound for the Aggies, pitching three innings before handing over duties to Blake McLean and Tyler Nebhut.
Bill Bonner and Jose Arrieta each had strong performances at the plate, finishing 2-4. Bonner and Aiden Davis led the team with RBI, contributing to the Aggies' seven-run total.
Game Two Recap:
The second game saw the Aggies facing an uphill battle from the start, with a 0-5 deficit by the end of the first inning. The challenge persisted throughout the game, with the Aggies only managing to put one run on the board—a solo home run by Ryota Kusumoto, marking the team's only RBI in the contest.
Starting pitcher Leandra Tamaki faced a formidable Evangels lineup, lasting only one inning before the bullpen got. They were called into action. Braeden LeJarraga, Carlos Joaquin, James Moya, and Cole Hermanson each took their turn on the mound.
After the doubleheader, head coach Shawn Joy noted, "We weren't ready to play today. We weren't mentally, and it showed.'
